So-called “customized modules” execute many tasks which are not included among the standard functions of an editing system. These customized modules can also be developed individually to meet clients’ specific needs. The new seminar administration is a good example. This module lets you insert and modify seminars, courses or other events, which can then be offered on the Internet pages. The administration isn’t limited to showing lists of seminars and details about individual seminars. People who are interested in these offerings can directly apply for the seminars and then automatically receive emails accepting or denying their applications. The people who are offering the seminars can view the applications for each seminar and then individually accept or deny each request. In either case, the applicant receives an email specifying his/her status. The emails consist of standard texts, but the people who offer the seminars can modify and edit each email to customize its contents for each applicant. This means that alternate dates can be directly offered, e.g. if a seminar is full and cannot accept any additional participants. The seminar administration always provides an overview about all new, rejected and accepted bookings for each seminar; if desired, it can also print out lists of participants. The system automatically recognizes when a seminar is full, marks it accordingly on the Internet pages, and accepts no further applications for that seminar. This is another example of the fact that CMS Laurin adapts itself flexibly to meet clients' needs. Tasks which don't ordinarily number among the standard functions of a CMS can also be performed.
